about

'Dark Days' is a slight return to the acoustic nature of 'The Instrument', and features long time collaborator Al Mobbs on double bass. Although originally conceived as an entirely acoustic project, bits of electric noise gradually started finding working their way into the tracks.

This album was recorded during the Coronavirus lockdown (April and May 2020), and the music reflects some elements of those uncertain times while tying into other, familiar themes.

Many thanks to the family and friends that kept me (relatively) sane during lockdown. I am immensely grateful to Al for his work on this album. Without his contribution, this record would be little more than unfinished sketches.

It has also been incredibly humbling to have Hallock Hill turn his hand to two of the pieces here, as it was his debut album that began my foray into the experimental realm.

I also want to thank everyone that listened to and bought my previous album, 'The Divided Self' and to Tom Robinson for supporting it on BBC Radio 6; I really wasn't expecting such a generous reaction.

Thank you for listening.
